Any cleaner with ammonia it will tend to destroy Nickel. You need to be carefully with the stronger ones like Sweets and only use it in the barrel and not drip it all over the finish. I have no nickle guns but if I did, I would coat the finish with either a wax or Teflon cleaner (Break Free CLP) let dry and then clean the barrel.
