The Weigand front sight would not work. The reason being; there was not enough material from the top of the barrel to the bore to machine the slot and have enough material left to drill and tap for the screw.
My gunsmith explained that the Weigand assembly is for when a front sight assembly is machined off, and a replaceable front blade assembly is desired.
So ,after we discussed it ,we decided on a Millett dovetailed front sight. Just like on my P.C. 629-5.
Cost for the front sight and cutting the slot/dovetail ; $73.00
Now all that is left to do is crown the muzzle, finish off the end in a suitable manner ,,and bead blast the barrel to remove the markings.
