Thanks for the replies, I'll start looking at the suggested rifles.

I just took a quick look at Buds Guns and see they have quite a few CZ 452. I didn't realize they came in so many barrel length options.

Ultra lux - 28.6
Lux - 24.8
American - 22.5 or 16
Varmit - 20.9

For .22 off the bench at 100 yards with scope shooting at bullseye targets, using mostly run of the mill .22 ammo and occasional match ammo is there any sort of guideline in terms of preferred barrel length?

Is longer better or is there some length where anything more does not return improved results?
