S&W and Remington tend to be Chinese knives.

I don't own a Ka-Bar but I do own Gerbers and Bucks but I would also draw your attention to Kershaw. Also keep in mind that you can get Benchmade knives in the $100 price point if you like them. That's what my 580 Barrage cost. As for a comparison amongst those brands, my favorite is the Benchmade followed closely by Kershaw. I own more Kershaw knives due mainly to price but they are great knives. Gerber and Buck are good but the Kershaws and Benchmade feel better in my hand, you may be different. When it comes to knives, I've got to hold and work them. Feel the weight and the action of the blade. There's at least one more recent Tactical knife thread you can go through and read as well.
