***BEAR THREAD WARNING***

This is a Bear Thread Warning - conditions exist for a hostile and possibly irrational discussion regarding the application of force against the Ursus family. Be prepared for comments about the merits of pepper spray and bells vs. firearms as well as those stating that bears present no threat whatsoever to humans. Also be aware of potential suggestions about filing the front sight off any handgun employed in order to create a less invasive rectal incursion - those advocating the use of any caliber below .44 Magnum are particularly vulnerable to said comments.
