A friend of mine is liquidating a life long collection of long guns, today I bought from him a 1955 vintage Marlin 39A "Mountie" carbine, with straight stock, carbine length barrel, etc. It needs some work, so I'll be on the phone with Marlin on Monday to see if I can get a magazine tube, one front barrel band screw, and a butt plate. It has a butt plate on it, just not a Marlin one. It is rough looking, has some pitting on the barrel, quite a lot of finish loss on the reciever, but it doe's fire, extract and eject shells, both .22 short and Long Rifle. I got it cheap, so it should make a good field gun when I'm done with it. Here's some pics:
If I have a hard time finding a magazine tube (carbine length), someone on the forum mentioned not long ago they knew someone who made .22 magazine tubes. Anyone have that guy's contact info?
