I'm pretty sure that run of guns by S&W had nothing to do with the Dayton PD. They were done for the owner of Dayton Gun that was on north Main in those days. It later moved south to Centerville and became Dayton Sports Headquarters, then Sports headquarters and finally Outdoor Sports Headquarters. Might have been another one in the bunch,each change resulted in fewer guns and more crossbows, fishing and camping stuff, kinda like an early "Dicks" yuck! The Main street shop is where I first drooled at row after row of Smiths, probably about the age of twelve. The name Hannin rings a bell, possibly the original owner of the shop.
