I've never actually heard of any decocker malfunction, but any mechanical device can fail. If you don't trust it, it can't fail you catastrophically.

I personally havent heard of any horror stories. The guy just said they dont always work and that when they fail, they discharge the chambered round. I did ask the guy at the gun shop about it. He has never heard anything. and said that IF they did fail, it would be a total recall of the guns... as this would be a major design flaw.
