Thank you. I could brag for hours about the gunsmith.
...but since it's mostly me, I'll pass.

If the polished band helps. Well, mostly inn my mind and it isn't really that polished. The rest of the cylinder is sandblasted with fine 400 grit sand or alu... something.
The under-lug, trigger, thumb latch and sides of the sight rib has been given the same treatment.

If you think my gun is extreme take a look at what's being made by the European gunsmiths these days. Here is one, Ralf Merkle at Merkle Tuning

There is more and more polygon barrels on the revolvers over here. That doesn't seem to be the case over on your side of the Atlantic ocean or?
I have a Mod. 66 that is going to get a Lothar Walther polygon barrel next week ...maybe.
