BBQ Guns
Here in the South we have what are known as "BBQ Guns". These are our "dress" guns (Sundy go to meeting) and are generally an expression of ourselves. Your BBQ gun doesn't have to be a large caliber, just something with a little of you expressed.
Several years ago, mine was a Llama 25ACP that was engraved. It was the size of a 380 and shot great and was very accurate. I wish I still had it.
I really like I frames. I currently have 5. My hands are HUGE and I have a hard time handling them, but I love them none the less.
I am currently on the hunt for a Terrier 5 shot 38 S&W. The weight and size is just right for a carry gun and powerfull enough for self defence.
I have an early I frame in 32 with the short barrel. The condition is pretty rough externally, but the bore is great and the operation is OK. The sights are tiny (I'm 57) and I have a hard time seeing them. I am planning to have it made into my "BBQ Gun" Shorten the barrel slightly, .10 ramp front and S&W adjustable rear sight, bead blasted and hard chromed.
Is it a bad thing? I don't think that it is collectable at all.
I know it isn't a man stopper, but a 32 S&W in the head will stop most problems, or at least get me a head start in a foot race.
What would YOUR BBQ gun be. Remember, its a formal occasion gun and doesn't have to be practical, just nice looking.
