My opinion that it has been refinished is based on the two pics above, wherein you can see the outline of the side plate clearly and the rounded edges on the cylinder flutes, etc. All indicators of a prior buffing needed to apply the refinish. If the seller is representing the gun as original finish, then he is uninformed about S&Ws. If the work was done by S&W, then there will be a date code stamped on the left grip frame under the grips, such as " 6.33" meaning the work was done in June 1933. Good luck, Ed #15
