After Bill mentioned a 4.5-incher, I have always wondered what one of those would be like. Elmer Keith said his was much better than the factory 4-inch gun, but of course Elmer thought everything he came up with was way better than everything else.
I doubt it would be possible to notice the difference between a 4.5- and a 5-inch gun, so I guess I won't bother, but these things do make a guy wonder. Maybe that extra 1/2-inch of sight radius over the 4-incher would...

With Garandman's permission for the thread highjackin'.
Bob,
You know I like them 3" .44's as well...
38/44 now a 3" .44Special.
M29-14,
I personally find an N frame .44 with a 1950 tapered tube in 4 3/4 inches to balance out quite nicely. But, a three and a half is what I carry and use the most...Ah hell, who am I kiddin', I'll pack and shoot just about anything that starts with a .44 !
Converted N frame .44 maggie with a 4 3/4" 1950 Spl. barrel.
Just cause I like 'em all...
Su Amigo,
Dave
