Charlie:

Just noticed this thread.

Run the slide back so you can push the slide stop out of the gun - use the tip of a bullet to do it. There's a cutout in the slide to allow it to come out.

Move the slide off the frame.

Push forward (from the rear) on the spring guide rod to pop it clear.

Remove the bushing (turn it one way or the other - I forget which).

Pop the barrel out. Can't remember whether is slides out of the front of the slide, or from the rear.

That should do it.... Re-assembly is the reverse.

I've found that it's better to cock the hammer while doing most of this, but be very careful to catch it as the slide comes off - it'll pop a decock lever back there. During re-assembly, be careful to put both of those little levers under the slide as it comes back.

Getting the slide stop back in is kinda fun, but you'll get the hang of it.

I think you can find a copy of the manual on S&W's site, someplace - it's been a while. I bought mine new in the early 70's.

(Starsky & Hutch were on TV and the City PD Detectives grabbed some up - the dealer let me have one at the same price. Would you believe $125!)

Regards,
