I think the prices on both of the guns are fair. I a little puzzled by the 617 being 85 to 90% condition as these are usually found in higher condition than that. The nice thing about a stainless gun is if it has a few rub marks or light scratches a little elbow grease and mother’s mag cleaner will make it look like new but it will be shiny.

Generally speaking 8 3/8 inch barrels are made in less quantities then the 4 or 6 inch barrels because they don't sell all that well. I don't know how much less that quantity is and I've heard quotes that they are 10 to 15% of the revolvers made in a model.

The funny thing is no matter what model I was looking for I've never had a problem finding an 8 3/8 barreled version. I think that's because they don't sell all that well and they end up hanging around the dealers at the gun shows or in the stores longer than the other barrel lengths.
