I have one with the factory wood combats and as one who likes shooting long barreled revolvers, it's one of my favorite .22's to shoot. Just wondering if it's another run-of-the-mill smith or it is a relatively rare gun.
There are no "common" to the used market 617's. That's why when people find a used one at almost any price less than the cost(whatever that may be in your area) of a new one they automatically snap it up. I'm not even looking for a 617 right now but I'd buy a nice used one if I saw it at any of my local shops(I don't know if you can ever have too many!). 6" is what you usually see if you see any at all with the 4" and 8 3/8" almost nonexistant used. That's just the way it is with them.
