My M&P15OR came in the "not too high quality", "semi-hard" (I like that) black plastic case. The rifle was quite nice:-)
Which was a little surprising as my really cheap 22A pistol came in a very nice blue case (admittedly, much smaller, but it is a nice box).
Once home, the cases get put up, never to be used again (unless I sell the gun, which rarely happens). Guns go into the safe, until it's time to "go", then they go into soft cases. We can get LOTS more guns in the trunk when they are in soft cases.

Guess I just wanted to say, black case was disappointing but I don't care. I don't use them. If they used a nicer case, I'd have to pay more to have a nicer case sitting above my garage unused
. Our S&W M&P15-22 came in a cardboard box. I'm good with that as long as the rifle arrives in perfect condition.
