Go to Amazon.com and order yourself the latest edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson. It will be the best $25 you can spend.
It will tell you the changes made in each revision. From there you can decide which revision you would like.
As best I can tell, dash-2 eliminted the pinned barrel and recessed cylinders (P&R), dash-5 went to the frame mounted firing pin and MIM parts, and dash-6 added the internal lock.
