My Smith has a 3 1/2 inch barrel. I didnt cut it, got it that way many years ago when no one was collecting them. Yes it does look good. As soon as i figure out how to post pictures I will. Sometimes looking at some of these old guns that have been altered, I think there should be a collectors classifcation for these fine old guns. The probem with that is to many of them are still in use doing just what they were designed to do. I have a question, does anyone here know what size the bore is on a S&W chambered for the .45 Colt. I know that Colt used .454 in their New Service and SAA before WW2 and .452 in their 1917 and the SAA since WW2 I am new to the S&W. The 1917 S&W and 1917 Colt are all .452 as is the 1911 Colt and because of the .45 A.C.P. used in these guns. I hand load my ammo and this is very useful information to me.
