Good question...
I don't have enough experience for a comparison, but from what I've read and heard, it's my understanding that a properly fitted holster is better for the guns finish and causes less wear, regardless of interior lining...So with that said, it would seem like a custom fit
Leather Holster would be the best option in that regard.
I have a custom Leather Sourdough Pancake coming soon for my 686...can't wait to try it out.
Anyway, when deciding on a holster for my 642, the "internal retention feature" was what determined my selection for this particular revolver...as I covered in my earlier post, I like that it makes the revolver from being drawn by someone else very difficult.
