I performed the same modification to one of my 4013 magazines. I have a holster that has a magazine pouch and when a mag is in the pouch, the pointy end of the butt plate nearly rubs on the 4013. I added a little clearance by sanding down the point with progressively finer sand paper, finishing off with Scotchbrite. You can easily get it to match the factory finish of the plastic.
