Hoppe's #9 and Hoppe's Elite are great solvents-but I would not use them as lubricants. I like 3-1 oil for lubrication after cleaning. For general wipe down-I have a lambs wool pad saturated with Remington gun grease that leaves a light protective coat on the outside-then into a gun sock.
