A can isn't registered to a specific firearm. I use mine on multiple rifles and pistol.
(are the pics not showing again in the above postings?) Yes, a .223 can works great, even better, on a .22 than a rimfire can. Problem is that it weighs a lot more. Example: YHM Mite weighs 3oz. YHM Phantom for a .223 weighs 20oz. Some buy a 308 can and use it for 223.
