There is nothing I love more than blue steel and fine, oiled American walnut. They go together like peanut butter and chocolate. Old Smiths are like looking at a work of art. The case hardening and fire blue of an old Colt is absolutely hypnotic. Having said that, my daily work gun is a plastic M&P 45. It's what I trust to keep me alive every day. It has never failed and I never worry about scratching it. I have to say that my main hunting gun has become a plastic and stainless Remington mod 7. I used to hunt with a beautiful Winchester mod 70 but Every time I went out in the rain or it got covered with mud on an ATV ride, I found myself feeling bad. Now I get wet, muddy, bloody and what ever else without thinking about it and the 70 has been retired to a place of honor in my collection. I also own a couple of AR's but that’s more because the Government here doesn’t want me to than anything else.
