I currently have a new S&W 44 Special on lay away. It does have the Mickey Mouse lawyer resistant type lock on it.

Do these locks have any effect on the operation, trigger pull or any other negative possible problems?

In the past I've removed mag safeties on a Hi-Power and a Firestar 45. Internet chatter claims I could wind up with my gonads in the ringer if I sold them with the mag safeties removed. Being the original owner on the 44 and having it papered to me guess I should leave it alone. It will be hard though not to defeat it if it has any undesirable effects on the function. Makes me wonder it the big mags recoil couldn't cause the locks to come loose and bind everything up.
