A buddy of mine just purchased a new Sig P238 and a new (to him) Makarov in .380. We went to the range last week to test them out, and he used 2 boxes of Herter's .380 that he had bought at Cabela's for a good price.

The accuracy through the Makarov was not great, but with no other ammo to gauge against, not sure if it was the pistol or the ammo. However, he had many FTF through the Sig, with a second strike necessary on maybe 10-20% of the rounds. After several failures-to-chamber, I inspected the few remaining rounds and found that half of them had their bullets seated so off-center that the steel case was bulged, and wouldn't even chamber.

I can't say how many of the others were in a similar condition...but I don't believe I'll be buying any Herter's ammo again anytime soon.
