Not to beat a dead pachyderm, the author failed to mention that African ivory and Indian ivory are different. African has more of the distinct chevron pattern while Indian is much less apparent. I've worked with both and prefer African. Also the quality varies in degrees, bark to plain to degrees
of A to AAAA exhibition grade, much like fancy wood.
