I have often wondered why S & W did not offer the M&P in a 2 inch Barrel option, starting much earlier.

Short Barrel revolvers in medium or large Caliber had been popular for a long time, even since the Cap & Ball era, typically being modified from longer Barrel Models by Gunsmiths or private persons.

Granted, the demand may not have been high in the 19-ohs or 'teens, but, a demand sufficient to justify the Tooling for a 2 Inch Barrel option, would have been present, and, that demand would have been increasing with each decade.

A factory original 2 Inch M & P Model 1899, or Model 1902, would be really fun to see ( if any existed, and, most likely, none do exist...)
