Default Help Identifying a Top-Break .38 S&W revolver

Identifying an old top break Smith & Wesson DA Revolver in .38 S&W

I am in need of some help identifying an old top break double action S&W revolver that I recently aquired.

It is chambered for the .38 S&W Round, and has a 3 3/16" barrel. The only serial number I can find is on the bottom of the grip but of the revolver. The number has only four digits, 36xx.

The revolver is in very good mechanical condition with a clean up-pitted barrel. It locks up tight and appears to work well in both DA and SA modes. The finish however is mostly gone.

I am interested in finding out what model this is, and the year of manufacture if that is available.

Thanks for any assistance that I might receive. This is an intreaging little gun that has certainly sparked my curiosity, especially given what appears to be a very low serial number.
