I've never lived anywhere that required a fee for the NICS. My two dealers I used in NC charged $15 & 20 for a transfer and that seemed fair enough.


I stopped in a shop in Dallas I have never seen before (just typed in "gun" into my GPS and it was on a back street) that claims to have been in the same spot for 40 years. I asked how much a transfer was, he asked "what kind of gun"?


I didn't think there would be a different price so I just asked what all of they were. He said $40 for handguns from a FFL, $60 from an individual but some guns would be more? Huh????


They had ten handguns, closest I saw any interest in was an old nickle M&P that was rusty with mismatched parts for $250. Guess I won't be going back there again.
