From your description, this should be a gun that was routed through DSC for service with war materials contractors. This is a fairly early gun, probably shipped in late 1942 or early 1943.
If the stocks are matching, even with the well worn finish, it's still a pretty desirable gun. Lettering one is an adventure, as some of these "civilian" Victory models went to interesting destinations.
