That's what the manual says and that's what I told my son.
However, he held the stock up to his shoulder in shooting position, pulled the delta ring back with two hands, held it in the rearward position with his first and second fingers on his right hand and promptly removed the hand-guard, 1/2 at a time. Good thing I didn't bet money on it!
I installed an inexpensive quad rail as well as a vertical front grip just to try out. Haven't shot it yet, but it feels pretty good. I said I was going to leave it stock, but got the urge to modify. I'll try not to get carried away.
