I collect these type and brand of holsters (the heiser that is) though I am not an expert in ANY way. Heiser built holsters either the top of the line or economy. The flap holster usually came in 2 different qualities. The top of the line is what I call double smooth. It is hard to describe but I will try. Leather has a smooth side and a rough side. The smooth side of course was the exterior of the holster. The double smooth holster used two piece of leather. They sewed the two rough sides togeather and then made the holster. Thus both the inside and outside of the holster were equally attractive. The less valuable holster was only single layer of leather and was rough on the inside. The flap holster was and is an outdoorsmans holster, as it had a closed toe and the flap. This kept mud and debris from entering either from the top or bottom.
