This cannot be a correct statement.
The only M&P I have that will not break down by pulling the trigger has a mag safety. With the mag safety the trigger will not operate without a mag in the well, and the slide won't come off with mag in the well. So you have to both remove the mag and flip the sear disconnect.
Without a mag safety the M&P breaks down just fine by pulling the trigger. And my M&P's without mag safeties have sear disconnects also.
So while S&W put sear disconnects in their M&P's, they can easily be broken down by pulling the trigger which means S&W
did not put the sear disconnect in there to make positively, absolutely sure that no one could fire the weapon while field stripping it. They put it there as an alternate means of breaking down the gun.
The trigger is fully functional on an M&P without a mag safety.
