IMO, I believe this is the answer. They died young, so they are forever young, and forever at their peak of fame, with much speculation of what might have been. (Heck, Dean's fame was based on only 3 movies spanning 18 months, and one of those wasn't even released until after his death.) Had they lived a full life, they would have lost some of their "shine", and would have
just been one more deceased celebrity.
