I had a similar complaint of my Model 19 after many years of service of shooting my department’s dirty lead range ammo. I used a Lewis Lead Remover and cured the problem. I'd try this before anything else.

Caution: wear gloves! Halfway through the project it looked like I had a black glove on my left hand.
