A sort of mini-PPC Gun... I love it!! Back in the day when a lot of K-frame guns were getting bull barrels like that, the best of them had both the ball detent crane lock and had a plunger built into the front of the barrel flat to engage the ejector rod like the original barrel. Some felt that the crane lock was sufficient though. Which route are you taking (since the pictures don't reveal that?)

As for grips, get the biggest pair of J-frame targets you can find that totally enclose the grip frame, then glass bed them in. You can then reshape the outside contour to suit yourself. The old Mustang grips were noted for having the same graceful contours as a plank... a pair of them should provide a good "blank" for you to work from.
