I think the lighter .45 Colt has less cylinder inertia for faster DA speed. Also, a hundred feet plus per second difference with the same psi is an advantage, even if pumped up to 1100 fps.

I don't know of any shooter who has tried both, that can't tell the difference of milder blast, lower pressure recoil, faster 2nd shot pickup of a .45 Colt, as equally compared to similar .44 performance.
