I can get 4 rounds off in less than 2 seconds, just don't ask me where the shots went!
Really though, 2 body and one head ( as we were trained to do) in 3 seconds and 5 inches will get the job done. I think one shot center mass will give you time for an aimed 2nd shot with a 40, if it is necessary. Unless you are LEO, SWAT or spec ops I don't think speed is as necessary as awareness and planning. JMHO
