If you haven't already bought it, I'd consider the ProStaff 3-9x40 with BDC reticle (same price as the P22). It's a better scope simply because you get more power from it and a bigger objective (the muzzle end of the scope), thus providing a better sight picture.
The only thing you're giving up when you get the Prostaff are the tactical turrets. Both the P22 and the Prostaff have return-to-zero and both focus at the ocular. If you want to, you can have tactical turrets added later.
The P22 is nothing more than their shotgun scope with different turrets and reticle.
I have the M-223 3-12x42SF BDC 600 scope on both of my big ARs
