Lots of food for thought here. For pure enjoyment, I'd go with the .45 Colt. I doubt that you would want to shoot the .44 at full house levels very much, anyway. Having said that, I think you would be better served with the .44 mag version, simply because it's so versatile. If you want grizzly-stompin' loads, they are available over the counter, as are mid-range target loads. As someone else pointed out, if you ever wanted to pair the pistol with a rifle, there are more choices available in .44.
