Like usual I've found this thread a little late in the game....but for me the .44 would be the choice because I don't reload.

Also, I don't have a Mtn gun, but do have a 29-5 with a 4inch barrel & 29-6 with a 6inch barrel (I prefer the blued guns in most cases) that I carry with full-load 240 grain Mag loads when hunting Elk in the western states and with 200 grain Special loads when deer hunting here in the southeast. I don't hunt with the pistols but like to carry them when scouting and hiking around in the area I will be hunting in.
