While not the SD I tried the Apex Spring kit in my Sigma and had light strikes also. I could not use my reloads with CCI primers. I too removed the striker spring and put the factory spring in and shot this pistol in a training class where I shot 400 rounds of my reloads with not one problem. I can not recommed the spring kit for a carry gun.
