Just to reiterate, S&W noted major changes in their models with a "dash number." While most of us consider the deletion of the pin to secure the barrel a big deal major change, apparently on the Model 60 at least, S&W did not. I think a whole lot of the importance Smith placed on a change had to do with how much it changed the making of the parts that went into the gun and how much it changed the operation of the production line. I guess pinning the barrel wasn't that big a deal to them!
