I have always been partial to flint against a frizzen.

And the longest continuous use ignition system remains the matchlock. It still works today. It's actually kinda fun when attached to the end of a linstock held over the touch hole of a 4 pounder.

So I guess it depends on what you want to shoot, and what you want to shoot it at.

But, I don't think anyone thinks it is really going to get that bad unless we stray into Cormack McCarthy territory.
