Looks nice! S&w started putting those locks in around 2001 so it's gotta be made before that. If you provide the first 3 of the serial# we could tell you the year it was made. A lot of people don't like the lock because they feel it ads a bit of complication to such a simply device. There has been stories of the lock engaging while firing but I'm not sure those cases have been proven! I prefer the no lock just because there is no hole in the side!! So long story short, no lock is much more desirable than lock!..ya did good!! Congrats!
