Yes. Those oversize grips are a problem for loading and unloading. That is why, on the larger frame guns (K and N), S&W came out with the relieved target stocks in the late 1950s. The good news is that J frame square butt stocks are not hard to find. I have a couple in my extra grips box. I think both are diamond stocks and quite worn. But you can probably find some correct nice ones on line or here on the WTB/WTS list.
