Just for the record, this is not true more often than not. I have about 15 holsters for the M&P and only about 3-4 of them will fit my SD9 or SD9VE. Anything molded like custom kydex will not fit and even some leather holsters won't. The best holster I have for the SD9 under the guise of being an M&P holster is the Bianchi 75 Venom.

As far as the Serpa holsters go, there is also the issue of debris blocking the release mechanism. It was because of this that the military and some law enforcement agencies dumped them.
