Personally, I have found that .22 semi-auto pistols work best when well lubricated. I use Gun Butter, and, for the M&P 22, I put two drops on the barrel sleve and rub it around, one drop on each rail at the hammer, and a half a drop on the back of the slide where it contacts the hammer. I then reassemble the pistol and work the oil in by cocking the slide a few times.
