My inherited Remington Model 121 pump rifle handles shorts nicely. Some of the "Target" shorts made by CCI and Remington are totally quiet when fired out of a rifle yet unlike the various CB shorts actually have reliable killing power.

The .22 Short still has its place today and there's a lot of appeal in any rifle that will flawlessly handle S, L and LR.
