Let's not forget that the mighty COlt does not hold the contract for the next generation of military M4's. They are now a civilian market rifle maker.
I could not care less who actually makes the rifles for Colt. S&W most certainly has had much of their rifle making outsorced. Originally their M&P rifles were made for them, and stamped S&W. Now, they are making their own rifles top to bottom, but not really. There are subcontractors sending in parts from all over. The new Sport barrels are industry standard units, only they are meloniting them. They are certainly a mix of homebrewed and subcontracted barrels. Trigger groups, springs, BCG, all of it is Tinker-toy interchangeable, and no one is truly sure of its' origin unless their is a plant stamp mark, etc. on the parts.

I bet they will be really good rifles, and maybe they will push S&W and others to compete a little in price to keep interest in the rifles up. Nothing kills sales like a glut in the market- and Lord, is there a lot of rifles in boxes out there waiting to find a home......... for only $1450, or more..........!!!
